The west (wall)has created a unanimous voice where all you hear is the buzzing sound of the tv screens, all rallying to silence your mind. it does not allow your thoughts to take form...it shapes your opinion, it alters your perception....learn to read between the lines. we are not hearing the truth.

I protect my mind by seeking alternative sources of information. The mainstream media is simply parroting the American government's party line. Heck, they don't even have access to satellite photos of Afghanistan (even the civilian satellites) because the Pentagon owns the exclusive rights to them. How many reporters have even been able to see what's going on for themselves? They all rely on military PR people who feed them propaganda. Seek independent sources of information.

I have been feeling betrayed ever since I discovered that the discourses and practices of democracy in the West are superimposed on the brutal discourses and practices of power. Democracy is not an ideal to uphold any more. Freedom needs to be defined anew.

Today, in Toronto, many people, in excess of 5,000, gave more than 3 hours of their time, some much more than that, to make the voice ring on the streets against the concrete, glass, and steel towers of the financial and political centres of town...

we watch in disbelief at the world that we have created, with our own limited ability to love, with our immense appetite for power, our greed, our self interest, where ever we are, where ever we have been. we stage wars, we free others, we allow them to live once more in the open fields of the cold winter ahead. the veils are lifted from a mystery, hidden from all eyes, to reveal what we have been busy building, schemes that have resulted in many deaths, destruction, sorrow, horror, terror. we raise our flags. we silence all who disagree with us, here and elsewhere. we give up all that we have fought for, all that people all around the world would die for. our freedoms taken away, everyday, just a little more. and yet nothing changes. nothing changed. we continue to do exactly what we have been doing for centuries never wanting to change, never needing to change. not our way of life! as long as we have the power everything shall remain exactly as it has been. focus on the victory anounced on the news. we turn off the tv and shut down the radio and burn the newspapers not to know not to see, saturated with repeated images of an unfamiliar land already. It is time to shop for the holidays.

What is the truth Oakland? What do you know about the truth 3,000 miles away from twisted wreckage here in New York. Augusta rails against a democracy that allows for such opinions being voiced without summary execution. The arrogance of those who imply that the American people are so moronic that they are being duped by a dishonest media is absolutely amazing. What exactly are you perceptive geniuses seeing that the rest of us are missing? Are all of those girls going to school again after nine years actresses on a Hollywood sound stage? Are images of music being played in public for the first time in years some creation of a manipulative media machine really filmed in Arizona? Were the Buddhist statues blown up by Al-Qaida really just computer animation created to poison us to Islamic extremists? Please fill us in on what aspect of the new found freedoms we are seeing in Afghanistan are untrue or inaccurate.

The war on terrorism is America's license to kill wherever and whenever it feels like it. No other nation can defend themselves from the weapons and power of the US. When is there enough revenge, or does the whole idea of revenge work like an addiction and once a little is felt, more and more is needed to get the same effect? My heart aches at the thought of a purported years long war against terrorism, for so long as we are at war, feeding our addiction to hate and violence (which is just a mirror of our society anyway)we can have no peace.

It's astonishing how people like you seem oblivious to the reasons behind the current conflict. We have been brutally attacked by terrorists. We have a license to defend ourselves and the entire civilized world. The Al-Qaida are no different than the Nazis. Iraq has practiced genocide and is developing weapons of mass destruction. They, like the Nazis, must be destroyed utterly and completely, they are a cancer that will spread if it is not cut out of the world completely. And what is your point about other nations not being able to defend themselves? Are we invading innocent countries, raping and pillaging randomly and wantonly? Should we give the terrorists a fighting chance? You seem to have no conception of reality, go sob in your pillow and pray for the Al-Qaida freedom fighters.

To the Ignorance above: I pity you but do not forgive you. Your shameless lack of knowledge of your own history is unforgivable. To you I pose the question: Why did our government supported and trained and gave aid to and called ally these nazi like people and groups. Was it for self-interest? Be sure the blood of innocent people is all over your hand as well. If you keep on driving your SUV, it is your child who pays the price of your ignorance and arrogance.

First of all,if you are going to write in English, try using proper grammar. Secondly, when did our government support the Taliban? Are you referring to the war against the Soviets twenty years ago? Was it for our self interest? Yes. Why would we help fight a war that was not in our self interest? And what point are you fumbling to make regarding the SUV? That we are fighting for oil in Afghanistan? Have you awakened from a coma that predates September 11? I'm just guessing at what your point is since you can't seem to make it yourself.

Even after what has happened we still can't stop bickering among ourselves. What I want to know is when the people of the United States are going to stand up once and for all raly behind President Bush and DECLARE this as "ONE NATION UNDER GOD". Besides if they can fight for their God(Allah) why won't we fight for ours. This nation was founded on the Gospel Of JESUS CHRIST. Stop fighting amongst yourselves and start fighting together!!

How many more innocent people must die in Palestine and in Israel before we take organzied action against blatant American-backed terrorism by Israeli state? How different is anti-Palestinian racism in Israel from anti-semitism?
